Update Halo Asset

The Update Halo Asset workflow action applies selected changes to one asset in Halo PSA, then returns the asset's refreshed details.

When to Use This Action

Use this action when you already have a positive Halo asset ID and need to:

  • Change selected standard asset properties
  • Clear asset notes explicitly
  • Change or clear selected Asset Fields or Custom Fields
  • Keep every omitted value unchanged

Do not use this action to choose an asset from several possible matches. Use Query Halo Assets first and pass the exact ID into Asset ID.

How It Works

Think of this action as a list of changes, not a replacement asset record. It sends only values you explicitly select or enter.

Blank values stay unchanged unless you choose to clear them

Leave optional standard fields blank to preserve their current values. Enable Clear Notes to replace notes with an empty value. For Asset Fields and Custom Fields, add the field and use a clear value when you want Halo to remove its current assignment.

Active State has an unchanged choice

Active State defaults to Keep unchanged. Select Set active or Set inactive only when you want to change it.

A refresh never repeats a completed update

After Halo accepts the update, the action retrieves the asset again so the stored result reflects current status names and field projections. If that refresh fails, the action does not send the update a second time.

Returned Variables

The stored result is the refreshed Halo asset object. Its common properties match the object documented for Create Halo Asset, including .id, standard asset fields, .fields, and .customfields.

For example, use {{custom.updatedAsset.status_name}} to reference the refreshed status name.

FAQs

How do I keep a value unchanged?

Leave that field unselected or blank. For Active State, keep Keep unchanged selected. Do not add an Asset Field or Custom Field unless you want to change it.

Can I submit the action without any changes?

No. Select at least one change in addition to the required Asset ID.

How do I clear notes?

Enable Clear Notes. A blank Notes field by itself preserves the current notes.
